Pioneer in scientific research, shaper of the future

The United Nations World Ecological Engineering Fellow is an honorary title awarded by the United Nations to scientists and leaders who have made outstanding contributions in key fields such as ecology, environment, energy, medicine, and agriculture worldwide.
Each academician is not only a pioneer in scientific research, but also a shaper of the global consensus on the future of ecology.

Academician selection criteria

Regarding the five criteria for our academician selection:

  • Significant scientific contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Promote international cooperation, governance, and application of ecological science
  • Have at least 10 years of research or policy experience in relevant fields
  • Select no more than 30 people annually, with a lifetime honor system
  • Academicians are jointly evaluated by the Global Selection Committee, the Secretariat and relevant United Nations departments
